Chicago's awash in playoff fever with both the Cubs and the Sox kicking butt. A North Sider who can hear the fans at Wrigley from my condo, my allegiance lies squarely with the Cubbies, who open a best-of-five series tonight against the L.A. Dodgers.
It's been 100 long years since the Cubs snagged a World Series, thanks to alleged curses and general snafus.
But head to any bar north of Madison and you'll encounter hopeful Cubs fans. And turn on practically any radio station and you'll hear this Cubs tribute by Pearl Jam's frontman Eddie Vedder, a Chicagoland native.
